(2) Different Small Old Porcelain Butter Pat Plates
Porcelain   Butter   Dairy   Butter Pat   Plate   Dish   Miniature   Kitchen   Doll   Victorian   Dinnerware   Occupied Japan   Antique
The picture shows a view of the (2) Different Small Old Porcelain Butter Pat Plates in this lot. These are not dated but they are old. Most butter pat plates had been used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Butter pats were usually part of a large china or dinnerware set. They were used at a time when store bought butter did not exist. Butter would be molded and stamped with a design and placed on these small individual serving plates. Between the thousands of designs that were made and their small size they have become an excellent collectible item. They also make a nice size plate for Victorian dolls.

The left plate was made shortly after World War II when Japan was an occupied country. It is marked ''MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN''. It has a green ring, a gold ring and an outer ring with a gold design. The right one is not marked but it has a painted bird on a branch with the Sun or Moon in the background.

To judge the sizes the left one measures 3-1/8'' wide. These appear to be in mint condition as pictured.
