(4) Beautiful Old French Advertising Trade Cards With Children
Non Sports Trading Card   Trade Card   Children   Toys   Antique   Advertising   Paper   Ephemera   Victorian
The picture shows a view of all (4) Beautiful Old French Advertising Trade Cards With Children in this lot. These were made in Paris, France and all three are very detailed and colorful. The gold background is actually a shiny gold but the scans don't show it. The first one picures six children dancing and playing. They are dressed in robes and feathers as if to be American Indians. This is a great image! In the scene is also a drum and four tepees in the background. At the bottom it reads in French:

DANSE DE GUERRE.

The second one is equally as nice! It seems to go with the first one. It pictures again children playing. This one is violent. One boy is yielding an axe while the other two are threatening with spears. At the bottom it reads in French:

LA DEFFENSE DES VIVRES.

The Third one appears to be Indian or African in nature. It shows three boys dressed in costume and attempting to get an elephant to move. The fourth one appears to be Indian or African in nature and goes with the last one. It shows the boys with the elephant being attacked with spears. The elephant is holding one of the boys with its trunk while the boy atop is about to fire his gun. All four of these have the same food advertising on the back. They tell you to ask your grocer for the following Imported French Goods:

HENRI MARCELLENI'S DRAGON BRAND
Macaroni
Spaguetti
Vermecilli
and Paste
GEORGE CADEAU & Cie. French Peas
Mushrooms
Haricots verts
Flagolets
Macedoines
Sardines
Truffes
Prunes
and
VICTOR PANET'S PURE OLIVE OIL

These old advertising trade cards are not dated but believed to be from the 1800's to the early 1900's. They each measure 3-7/8" x 2-1/2" and they are in near mint condition.
