| | | The pictures below show larger front and back views of this Old Warwick Castle Advertising Souvenir Enameled Metal Bell. The bell is not dated and the year that it was made is unknown. It is not marked and the maker is also unknown. On the ornate handle is a section that is enameled in red, green, and blue. It has an image of the castle and it is marked ''WARWICK CASTLE'' on a banner. It was most likely purchased as a souvenir by a tourist. The bell measures 3-3/4'' tall. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured and it rings well. Below here, for reference, is some additional information about Warwick Castle: Warwick Castle From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Warwick Castle Site information Owner: Merlin Entertainments Site history: Built 1068 In use: 1068 - present Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from an original built by William the Conqueror in 1068. Warwick is the county town of Warwickshire, England, situated on a bend of the River Avon. The original wooden motte and bailey castle was rebuilt in stone in the 12th century. During the Hundred Years War, the facade opposite the town was refortified, resulting in one of the most recognisable examples of 14th century military architecture. It was used as a stronghold until the early 17th century, when it was granted to Sir Fulke Greville by James I in 1604. Greville converted it to a country house and it was owned by the Greville family, who became Earls of Warwick in 1759, until 1978 when it was bought by the Tussauds Group. In 2007, the Tussauds Group merged with Merlin Entertainments, which is the current owner of Warwick Castle. |
