The pictures show views of this Large Old Lowneys Candy Advertising Display Booth Photograph. The first picture shows the entire photograph. The second picture shows a little closer view of the back wall filled with advertising signs, candy boxes, and tins. This early photograph is believed to be from either the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition World39;s Fair, or the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. The Walter M. Lowney Company had factories in Boston, Massachusetts, Chicago, Illinois, and Montreal, Canada. This photograph is mounted on a thick cardboard backing board. It pictures a fancy advertising booth filled with many signs, posters, candy packages, candy bars, candy, and cocoa tins, a coffee machine (?), an old cash register, three young ladies in dresses, and a man in a suit and derby hat. The back has a very faint ink stamping, probably from the Photographer. The only words that we can make out is 39;39;Halifax, N.S.39;39;. The photograph measures 8-1/239;39; x 6-5/839;39; The backing board is slightly larger. The photo is in excellent condition as pictured. The backing board has edge and corner wear. There is a diagonal crack in the upper left corner area but it is still very much intact. |
