The pictures below show larger views of this ©1908 & 1909 Pilot Road Maps of New England Book with Cover. This map book covers New England and The Hudson River District of New York. It was published by F. S. Blanchard & Company of Worcester, Massachusetts back in the days of early automobiles and horse carriages being used for travel and transportation. The world was much bigger then and there were far less vehicles traveling the roads. Many roads and highways have been built since this book was printed. The first picture below shows the great logo that is used with a driver in a hat and goggles. It is embossed on the cover. The next picture shows the whole book cover. After that the book is shown in its clear cover with a metal snap that still works. We do not know if the clear cover is yellowed from age, from the leather edge, or if it was made that color. The page opposite the title page give you reference to which number page that maps are on. The next pictures show two sample maps and two pages with closer city street view maps. There is also a lot of information in the book as well. The map book measures 9-7/8'' x 9-5/8''. The book appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. The clear cover is yellowed as mentioned above. |
