| | | The picture below shows larger front and back views of the (2) Different Rare 1968 Cracker Jack Pop Corn Confection Vacuform Jive Patch Prototype Prizes in this lot. These were not the prizes used in Cracker Jack boxes. These were proto types, mock ups, or samples of the prizes that were hand cut and glued on to the vacuform backing. They had come from the Designer’s studio. These have a little known name. They are called “Jive Patches”. This information came from the Designer himself. They were manufactured by The Sam Gold Manufacturing Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. These each picture a cartoon or comic man and they read as follows: SMILE – YOU MAY NOT FEEL UP TO IT LATER! JOIN ME FOR LUNCH - - - AT YOUR HOUSE! The Cracker Jack Prize ID Number for these is: Z-1244. The exact number in this set is unknown. These have a screen like background and a raised and printed center area. The background of the regular issued prizes is yellow, and there are instructions on the back paper. They each measure about 1-3/8" x 1-1/8" x 1/8". They are in excellent condition with some normal age discoloration or from handling. The prototypes both have edge cuts or cracks from when they were made. |
