The pictures show different views of this Old Celluloid Baby Doll With Fancy Dress & Beaded Hat. The year that this doll was made is unknown but she is believed to be from the early 1900s. She has been packed away in storage since 1948 and was recently discovered. The items pack away around her dated from the late 1860s to 1944. Nothing at all has been done with her other then add new clean tissue paper in the box she was stored in. The box, which is included, was once for shirts. The folds of her dress are exactly as they have been for at least 58 years. The first two pictures show the entire dressed doll front and back. The next one shows a closer view of the face with colored lips, cheeks and hair. She has delicate eye lashes that may be real hair. Her eyes are believed to be glass. They do not close. The next picture show the back of her beaded hat. The front of the hat has a lace edge. She is marked on the back of her neck as follows: MOD DEP SNF (within a diamond shape) FRANCE 27 The dress she is wearing has an off white or light beige top section and front. It has dark purple velvet trim with a metallic thread lace. This velvet may have once been blue (see back of dress). There is a different lace on the bottom of the sleeves. The next picture shows the front section of her dress lifted. It reveals a rich blue velvet layer that has a woven trim of flowers and another metallic thread lace. The next picture shows the velvet dress lifted to reveal her celluloid legs and white underwear. Her legs have coloring and her toe nails are painted. The next picture has a closer view of her legs. The last picture shows a sample section of the woven floral trim with metallic lace. The doll measures about 10'' tall. The doll with the dress measures about 13-1/2'' tall. We are not doll collectors or graders, but to us she appears to be excellent or better condition as pictured. There is no apparent damage other then maybe a dye color change in the velvet as mentioned above. She will be very well packed when mailed. |
