The tear that this postcard was made in unknown but it is old. The station has old gas pumps with glass globes. There are three Texaco logos that can be seen. There are bird scenes on the curtains in the window. There is an early auto parked at the pumps and an employee standing there. There is an ice cream sign in front of the building and two signs near the road These read as follows: WE SERVE REAL ICE CREAM THE WHITE HOUSE ROOMS - CAMPING GROUNDS The front of the postcard reads as follows: WHEN IN BARRE STOP AT THE WHITE HOUSE. The back of the card names ''A FEW PLACES OF INTEREST IN BARRE, VERMONT - POPULATION 10,000''. It also has the attractions at The White House which includes: Barre Chamber of Commerce Camping Grounds, Rooms for Tourists, Filling Station, Bathing Pool, Art Shop, and Wayside Refreshment Stand which carries: Candies, Cigars, Cigarettes, Soft Drinks, Ice Cream, Hot Dogs, Coffee, Sandwiches, Jersey Milk and Cream, and Wafers. The card has a message in pencil but it was not mailed. The postcard measures 5-13/16'' x 3-11/16''. It is in excellent condition with some spotting as pictured. |
