| The pictures below show larger front and back views of this Old Oval Framed Young Lady Artist Drawing Picture. The picture is not dated but it is believed to be from the late 1800s or early 1900s. The detailed drawing appears to be in pencil, charcoal, and crayon. The young woman is in a dress or blouse, and it has a collar brooch or jewelry bar pin. This framed drawing was acquired from an old estate with many older photographs of different kinds dating back as far as the Civil War to the early 1900s, including many tintypes, carte de visite (CDV), and cabinet cards. The people are not identified, however, the majority of photographs were of people who were probably related, and had lived in Bangor, Maine and Rochester, New Hampshire. The frame is made of wood. The front was gold painted and it had raised rose flowers and buds with leaves. The frame has curved or convex glass in the front and a cardboard panel in the back and an old heavy wire hanger on the back for hanging. The frame measures about 12-3/4'' x 15-3/4''. The drawing is well done but it has a tear as pictured. It could probably be restored. The frame is solid but could use a good cleaning and a new back. |
