The picture shows a view of the (3) Unused ©1955 Double Feature Revenge of the Creature & Cult of The Cobra Monster Movie Ad Mat Molds in this lot. The ad mats are not dated but they are from 1955 when these two movies were made. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this.

The ad mats are like miniature 3-D posters and would look nice framed, or you could still use them to make print blocks. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board.

Because this was a double feature, one of the admats has a small image for each movie. The other (2) admats are of the Creature of The Black Lagoon with chains in one. In the other there is a man and a pretty lady with the Creature coming at them. These ad mats are marked as follows:

To judge the sizes, the bottom admat here measures about 4-13/16'' x 2-1/16''. These admats appear to be in mint unused condition as pictured.
