The pictures show views of this Old Filled United States Coast Guard School Pencil Box. Shown is the box top and bottom as well as the box opened with its contents. The box contains all of the items that were in it when it was found, There are compartments filled with a variety of colored pencils, regular pencils, (2) metal compasses, a caligraphy pen with a nib, a pencil sharpener and (4) erasures. There is an interesting looking box of ''FUNNY FACE'' colored pencils. The colorful box pictures (18) cartoon character faces including a clown, pilgrim, hillbilly, black man and many more. This box of pencils was made by Empire Pencil Company of New York.

There is no makers name on the Coast Guard box. It is simply marked (in rope) ''COAST GUARD'' on the front. The top image is of two ships in trouble at sea and firing flares. In the foreground is a lifeboat full of men rowing. The bottom image is of a ship listing. It is connected by a cable to what appears to be a winch that men are operating. In the background on the right is a light house.

The closed box measures 11-1/8'' x 6'' x 1-1/2''. It appears to be in near mint to mint condition as pictured. The contents are excellent or better.
