The picture below shows larger front and back views of th(2) Different 1940s Cracker Jack Pop Corn Confection Miniature Paper Accordion Toy Prize Playing Card Whistles in this lot. These two accordion type whistles have a paper bellows and a hole in the back with a small round tin whistle. The small whistles (not shown) fell out of the holes but they are both included and could be put back in the holes. These two prizes are not dated but they were made in “Occupied Japan” in the late 1940s immediately following World War II. The front playing card sides have animals. One has a cartoon or comic character horse dressed in a suit and tie (8 of Hearts), and the other one has a chicken or rooster (Jack of Diamonds). The two back sides have the same repeated red and white design and the holes where the tin whistles go. Both of these for one price! The miniature toy prize mandolin measures about 1-5/8'' x 2-5/8'' and open to about 1-1/2''. The rooster bellows is intact and appears to be in excellent condition. It should work well with the whistle installed in the hole again. The horse bellows is all there but it needs some repair on one short side to work again. |
