| | | | The picture below shows larger front and back views of this Old Great American Tea Company Sun Sun Chop Tea Advertising Premium Grasshopper Insect Trade Card. The card is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1800s. The Great American Tea Company was established in 1859. The front of the card pictures two grasshopper characters. One is sitting on a fence playing a squeezebox, and the other is leaning on the fence. They are singing “IN THIS WHEAT BY AND BY” with the music below. The back side pictures the Sun twice and has advertising for Sun Sun Chop Tea by The Great American Tea Company who were Importers, Coffee Roasters, and Packers. They were located at 31 & 33 Vesey Street at the corner of Church Street in New York. The card measures about 3-1/8'' x 4-3/4''. It appears to be in near mint condition as pictured. |
