The picture shows a view of the (2) Old Black & White Dancing Girls Photographs in this lot. The year that these original prints were taken are unknown but they are old. Both photos have an elaborate stage background. One has paintings and the other has different cloth. Written in pencil on the back of the second photo is the following: PANAMA HATTIE ETHEL MERMAN 40’s With a little research it was found that there was a 1940s Broadway Musical named ''Panama Hattie'' that starred Ethel Merman: Broadway Production The show opened on October 30, 1940 at the 46th Street Theatre and ran for 501 performances. It was directed by Edgar McGregor. Cast: Ethel Merman as Hattie Maloney Arthur Treacher as Vivian Budd Betty Hutton as Florrie James Dunn as Nick Bullett Phyllis Brooks as Leila Tree Joan Carroll as Geraldine Bullett and the dancers included June Allyson and Vera-Ellen. There was also a movie in 1954 named ''Panama Hattie'' that starred Ethel Merman, Art Carney, and Ray Middleton. The firt photo has the bottom white space cropped. The second one measures 4-1/2'' x 3-1/4''. They are in excellent condition as pictured. |
