The pictures below show many larger views all around this Old & Heavy Wood & Vinyl Small or Miniature Salesman Sample Chair. This chair is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1940s or 1950s, or ''mid century'' as it is commonly known today. It is not marked and the maker or manufacturer is unknown. We are calling this a salesman's sample because it appears to be professionally made, scaled down version of a chair. It would make much more sense for a salesman to carry smaller scaled down versions of furniture for sales than the actual larger size pieces. This chair appears to be made of pine wood, but finished with a stain and varnish to look like maple. The back and seat sections are stuffed, sewn, and covered in a green vinyl. There is some brass or copper metal hardware such as screws and tacks. The tacks have an aged patina, but cold be polished if desired. There is some cloth trim that goes around the bottom and back edges of the vinyl sections. The chair could make a good seat to pose a larger doll or placed in a very large old doll house. This chair measures about 7'' x 7-3/4'' x 8-1/2''. It is solid and it appears to be in very good condition as pictured. It has some over all wear and probably could use a good cleaning, but that will be left up to the buyer to decide. There is a chip in the wood of the front right foot. |
