The picture shows a view of this Old Grocery General Store Exterior Glass Photograph Negative. Also shown are three closer views of areas on the negative. The location and year this was made are unknown, however, it is believed to be from New Hampshire or Massachusetts in the 1800s. The building has a grocery and general merchandise store.

The image has (3) men and a horse pictured. The one on the wagon probably made delieveries for the store. One older bearded man was probably the owner and the young man was most likely an employee and/or the Son mentioned on the sign.

Some of the store interior can be seen through the windows. There are signs in the window, on the exterior, and hanging above. Most of the signs on the building can be read. They are as follows:

J. K. BUTMAN & SON
SICKLE (tobacco ?)
THOS. S. SINCLAIR GROCERIES
PILLSBURYS BEST (Flour) LEADS THE WORLD (tin sign with barrel)
GROCERIES (on window)
DRY GOODS (on window)
SPICES, TEA, COFFEE, FLOUR (small hanging signs)
QUINNIPIAC FERTILIZERS (sign or poster)
Two Die Cut Signs In Window (one man & one child)

The two windows upstairs are filled with coffee pots, teapots, glassware, crockery or pottery and more. There are other interesting features that can be seen. There are two large post bird houses, a fish weathervane, the delivery wagon with horse, hitching post or rail, wood sheds, a large basket on the porch, a shovel hanging on a drying rack, and vintage clothing. A few more buildings can be seen behind and beside the store. The glass negative measures 7'' x 5''. It is in excellent condition with some scratches as pictured.
