The pictures below show larger front and back views of all (3) 1900s New Hampshire or Maine One Room School House Photographs in this lot. The estate that these photographs came from had lived in the Rochester New Hampshire and Bangor Maine areas. There is a record of the children named on the back going to school in 1908 at Pond Hill Public School in Barrington, New Hampshire. This may be that school but we do not know for sure. Two of the three photographs are marked on the back as follows: HAZEL, GLADYS AND ETHEL (Thompson) WITH MY BEST WISHES AMY E. SANBORN SCHOOL HOUSE & CHILDREN TAKEN 1908 BY RUTH SEWARD TEACHER The largest photo has a group of school children in front of a schoolhouse. The smallest photo has children seated on the ground and one climbing the flag pole. The medium one is of the school with an American flag flying. This one looks like the edges had been burned in a fire and some possible water damage. All three of these for one price! To judge the sizes the largest photograph with the mat card backing measures 6-3/8'' x 5-3/8''. These appear to vary from poor to excellent condition as pictured. |
