The pictures show a view of the ©1987 & 1988 McDonald's Restaurant Advertising Baltimore Maryland Place Mat Press Proofs in this lot. The backs are blank. These placemat sheets had been acquired from an Artist that worked on the production artwork to produce them. These were the press proofs that were inspected before all of the others were printed. The Artist had saved many of the proofs in portfolios. These two colorful placemats are very similar with some changes made from one year to another. The one with the rounded corners is ©1987 and the square corner one is dated ©1988. Apparently these were produced to advertise tourism in the Baltimore, Maryland area. The campaign was called ''REACH THE BEACH''. There is a colorful illustration with the Bay Bridge, Chester River,Ocean City, Ocean Downs, Assawoman Bay, Nanticoke Scout Reservation, Wicomico State Park, Frontier Town, Wye Oak, Maritime Museum, and more. The placemats advertise a ''Reach The Beach'' brochure that could have been acquired at McDonald's restaurants. It has ''SIX TIPS FOR EASY TRIPS''. It mentions a Bargain Book, toll tips, bus advertising, and more. The advertising place mats were sponsored by McDonald's, WMAR-TV of Baltimore, The Baltimore Sun, and B104 WBSB FM Radio also of Baltimore. The two sheets each measure about 14'' x 11''. They are in mint unused condition as pictured. |
