| | | The pictures show a front and back view of all (11) ©1949 Topps Bubble Gum & Candy Premium Play Coins of The World in this lot. These premium coins are made of plastic and many of them are metal coated. These coins were marketed in a few ways by Topps. One way was in one cent packs of bubble gum called ''World Play Money Coins'', and the other way was in cellophane wrapped strips in boxes of ''Play Money Pops''. They were made of different denominations from (24) different countries. In this lot, the top center one appears to be different in size and design. It is similar but may be from a different set. In the order pictured, the included play coins are marked on the two sides as follows: CENT CANADA / 100 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD KAABA - MECCA ARABIA / NEW COINS OF THE WORLD FRANC BELGIUM / 25 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD MARKKA FINLAND / 1 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD DRACHMA GREECE / 50 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD (JAPAN) MARKKA FINLAND / 50 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD KURUS TURKEY / 50 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD RIAL IRAN / 10 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD LIRE ITALY / 50 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD YUAN CHINA / 100 PLAY COINS OF THE WORLD These coins are from the early days of plastic injection molded toys. All but one of these toy premium coins measures 7/8'' wide. These appear to be in various conditions as pictured. Two of the copper coated coins have some corrosion. The larger Arabia coin has a small melt mark at the top on the back. |
