| | | The picture shows a front and back view of this Small Old Enameled Sterling Silver Four Star Home Front Service Flag Pin. This pin is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1940s during World War II. The service star flag indicated that you had a family member in the service, usually during wartime. The number of stars indicated how many family members were enlisted. Flags would be hung in home windows and pins with the flags were worn on clothing. In this case, the previous owner of this pin had four family members at once enlisted in the American armed services. It is difficult to see in the picture, but this tiny pin is marked ''STERLING'' on the back. This enameled silver pin measures about 5/16'' x 5/8''. It appears to be in excellent used condition as pictured. |
