The picture shows a view of both sides of this 1909 Pretty Lady Tobacco Advertising Premium Pin Back Button. The pin was removed for scanning but replaced afterwards. This was done to see all the wording on the paper insert. These pins were inserted in packages of tobacco in the early 1900s. At the same time they were also inserted as prizes in Cracker Jack boxes, but they had a different paper insert. This one pictures a pretty blonde young lady. The paper insert in the back reads as follows: NAPOLEON ALL TOBACCO FACTORY NO. 240 1st DIST. PENNSYLVANIA WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. PATENTED On the edge of the pin it is marked: ©1909 by the Whitehead & Hoag Co. The pinback measures 1-1/4'' wide'. It appears to be in excellent condition with only light wear and a browned paper insert as pictured. |
