| | | The picture shows a view of both sides of this 1893 Columbian Exposition World's Fair Advertising Souvenir Elongated Cent. The Columbian Exposition elongated cents were introduced at the fair as souvenirs and they were the advertising elongated cents that were made. This is the first design used. The token was made from an 1893 United States Indian Head penny. The year and a partial Indian head can still be seen. These coins are all made by a vending machine that rolls a penny between dies. These machines are usually found at popular locations, tourist attractions, arcades, airports, amusement parks, Historical sites, or any number of other similar places. On the advertising side of this one it has two stars and it is marked as follows: COLUMBIAN 1893 EXPOSITION The token or coin measures 1-1/8'' wide. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. |
