The picture below shows a larger front and back view of this Small Old Asbury Park New Jersey Advertising Souvenir Sailboat Beaded Purse. The purse is not dated but it is old. These purses were most likely sold as souvenirs in gift shops on the Boardwalk, or as a prize used in old arcade machine game on the Boardwalk in the 1960s. The purse is made of cloth with a zipper and it is lined in vinyl or plastic. The beadwork is not actually beads with holes, but they are applied red, black, and white colored plastic dots. It has a nice design pattern on both sides. One side reads “ASBURY PARK” and the other side has a sail boat under sail with seagulls and waves. It also has a red plastic sailboat gum ball machine prize charm as a zipper pull. The purse measures about 5'' x 3'' x 3/8''. It appears to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. |
