This offer was mailed in 1924 from The Goodyear Manufacturing Company in Kansas City, Missouri to a Center Strafford, New Hampshire address. We found a year on the insert at the lower left of the letter front. Included is the mailing envelope, a return envelope, a letter, a $5.00 discount check, and an advertisement that pictures both the coat & the sweater being offered, along with an attached brown swatch of the coat material. What the deal was, is that if you sent the enclosed $5.00 “Merchandise Discount Check”, the filled in order form from the back of the letter, and pay the Postman $7.95 COD (if you mailed payment you could save 20 cents), you would get the $12.95 coat for $7.95 and a $5.00 sweater for free. Wait! There is more. If you get four friends to order the same coat, your $7.95 charge will be returned, making your coat free of charge. That is the deal spelled out in the letter from S. M. George / Director of Sales. To judge the sizes the company letterhead letter measures about 8-3/8'' x 11''. The paper items appears to be in mint condition as pictured, except the mailer envelope has a small tear on the flap from opening. |
